My Thanksgiving break started a little rocky with the
stomach flu. But hey on the bright side I tried on some size four pants and
they fit, I may have done the happy dance and ran downstairs to show my mom approximately
15 outfits that fit last year when I was 149 pounds that I have not tried on
since then – I was waiting to be in the 150’s again, but I was bored and felt
thin (obviously, no food in body!) so I gave them a try. I get that I was a few
pounds lighter because of not eating for 24 hours but it was motivation for me
to stay on track over Thanksgiving, which did not happen. hahaha. I had all
intentions then my grandma was forcing me to try pumpkin, pecan and apple crisp
and you can never say no to grandma!
The day was great and I had a lot of yummy food. It was ONE
day and I am not too worried. I did a little black Friday shopping and got a
Nutri Bullet and new knives. I was pumped – but can tell I am getting old when
this is what I want to shop for…
In other news I have an AMAZING pancake recipe that is
packed with protein – and it is healthy. Winning. If you follow me on instagram
I posted the recipe there last week.
Protein Pancakes:
¾ c. egg whites
½ c. cottage cheese
½ c. oatmeal
2 T. coconut flour
½ t. vanilla
½ t. baking powder
put in the blender - put on pan - devour
I topped mine with Lily’sSF chocolate chips and syrup. So, so, so good!
It ends up being 5g fat, 42g carbs, 43g protein = 385
calories
I got asked to partake in a giveaway with other bloggers.
With some of my favorite bloggers like Mama Laughlin and Val from Fab ChickGets Fit. I was feeling pretty special! I waited about 4 months for this tank
top to get to me…. Just so I could sign my name and write “You Do You – Bailey
McKenzie, Simple Fit Fun”.
When we get the tank we are supposed to snap a picture, sign
our name and post what motivates us on our blog.
Many people are motivated by their kids, they want to be the
best version of themselves for their kids… And well, no kids for me. But what does
motivate me to continue to be the best person I can everyday is knowing how
happy I will be at the end of the day. Being the best person I can be whether
it is running a marathon, doing well in school, holding the door for an elderly
lady, giving money to a charity, etc. These are all making me a happier person.
Going to bed at the end of the day feeling rewarded is one
of the best feelings.
The tank still has some traveling to do but as the giveaway
gets closer I will for sure post the details on how YOU can win this tank.
I feel like I have not done a life update in awhile and life
has been pretty grand lately.
I have been getting in some outdoor runs or I should say
**trying** to get in some runs. This MN weather is killing me. I do not like
being cold and then add in some sweat, yeah…. I am out. But new workout clothes
are always motivating:
Besides running outside I have been sprinting on the
treadmill. Last week I broke the treadmill so currently I am taking a week off
from my schools gym, because lets be honest I do not want to be seen by anyone.
I have been lifting some dumbells in my room at my apartment – it is actually
going really well.
I have been eating some very yummy foods and creations. My
latest favs are protein pancakes, protein waffles and omelets.. Of course I
love salad, chicken, yogurt and everything else below :)
Some days I actually put a real bra on and pants. Except I
kind of cheat because these are jeggings from Lulu Lemon – so basically they
feel the same as workout pants. Double score.
If you hung out with me throughout this whole post I love
you. I hope you enjoyed a little photo dump because I am getting a new phone
today and all my food pictures will go bye-bye.
*****Attention***** Listen to this song before you read this
post (I promise it will be worth the 4 minutes) and P.S. the blog post
will still be here when you are finished listening. PROMISE.
I cannot explain how many times I have listened to this song
since I heard it on Monday on the radio. It immediately spoke to me – THIS WAS
ME.
I use to be the girl that caked on the make up and got those
fricken fake nails put on my fingers every two weeks (they are pretty but in HS
you have no money!). I would hate going to school without my hair straightened.
Lets be honest, I never ran the extra mile in high school.
But I did want to fricken be slim.
I wondered if by doing these things, would people like me
more?
Then when I went to college things changed. I realized I did
not have to be that other person every.single.day. To this day I still love
dressing up and getting my hair done – but the everyday Bailey likes to be in
athletic comfy clothes with my hair up with a headband in. Ain’t nobody have
time for pants that don’t have an elastic waste band.
I want to play this song for every middle school girl and
play it loud in the cafeteria for every high school girl that spends way too
much money on a pair of jeans and will not go in public without make up. I want
to blast this song in my Troopers faces and let them know to BE WHO THEY ARE.
Do NOT try to be someone you are not – if someone cannot like you for YOU, you
do not want him or her in your life.
This song speaks to me so much and I love every.single.word.
