NSV

Three words

Non Scale Victory

Seems pretty straightforward, huh? For many people, NSV’s are easy to find throughout their journey. However, I always have a tricky time being proud of myself unless it has to do with the number on the scale.

Now I have not weighed myself in over a month, and that  is not my priority right now. My priority is to enjoy life with the people I love while living a BALANCED life. Yeah, I want to be able to eat out, get drinks, and eat cupcakes when I want and also workout when I feel like it. If I make this lifestyle miserable how am I ever going to be able to hold onto it forever?

The truth is I will not.

A true NSV for me is having balance and being happy, but yesterday I had two NSV, and I had another today. Here is how they went:

I ran into Jcrew because everything was 40% off. I needed a pair of shorts, and there was a super cute tank; however, the tank came in a 00, 0, 6 or 12. I grabbed the 12 and ran to the dressing room. This sweet little old lady asked me if I needed anything, and I proceeded to explain that the tank was only in a 12, and I was bummed. I said I would probably need a 10 because I have should big shoulders, and she looked at me and said, “Honey do a 360”. So I did. She then said, “You are so tiny! You could easily fit into a 6!” She brought a 6 in another color, and it fit. I was so stinking happy. Needless to say, I bought the tank.

Then I went into Lulu Lemon to spend a gift card I have had forever. I wanted to get a matching outfit, but they only had the shirt I wanted in a size 6 again. I told the sales person I like my shirts loose when I run, and she said a 6 would for sure fit. I said, “eh, I don’t know, this fall I bought a 10”. She encouraged me to try it on, and it fit. I thanked her for encouraging me! I felt good, and I got my matching outfit that even has some camouflage. :)

Finally, today I am wearing SHORTS. Yes, I am wearing shorts without a worry in the world. I use to hate wearing shorts because my legs were gross. I know my legs are not 100% perfect, but I am wearing my shorts with confidence!

These are NSV to me because they reminded me the number on the scale does not determine how victories should go. If you have an NSV, I would LOVE to hear it!

Legs & Abs

Today Katie and I went to Lifetime and worked LEGS. My favorite! I was sick last week so I have not had a good leg day in awhile. I hope I can walk tomorrow ;)

Here is what we did:
5 minute warm up walk. 10 sprints at 5.0 incline and 8.5 speed, 30 seconds on 30 seconds off
Squat with bar
Deadlifts
AB leg lifts
Hip thrusts
Goblet squat
Weighted calf raises with bar

We did 5 sets, 10 reps each (except for the inner/outter machine).

Plus we finished with some abs. Katie always has the best ab exercises that kill. Below are a few of the exercises we did with a bosu ball but we also did planks, plank knee touches, rainbow planks, weighed cherry pickers, weight toe touches, and plank to rows.

It is so nice to have Katie home. Catherine comes home Saturday and then we will all be together!! YAY.

Happy Monday!

Happy Monday Party People!

have had so much going on lately that I have had to slow down my blogging. Three posts a week is not a lotbut I feel like I have had zero extra timeLife is SO good to me, but sometimes it does kick me in the buttSo here is what is new…

Life has been going well. I will be honest, I mostly live in gym clothes and try to style my hair at least once a week. Some days I get fancy….

This picture is from like three weeks agobut I feel pretty in itso I am posting it.

have less than three weeks of school then a short break before summer school begins! YIKES! I am going to be in school until May 2016 taking 18-20 credits each semester. Gahh, transferring colleges messed me up credit wise. I am so excited to wrap up this semester.

Something exciting is I planned a skydiving date with Kyle! YAY. It has always been on my bucket list to skydive, but none of my family or friends had an interestWhen Kyle and I started dating, I quickly made the connection that we both wanted to skydive. I am SO excitedeven though I know I will be shitting my pants 5/16.

Katie came home last weekendand we went rollerblading Sunday. We have a few more workout plans this week and then Catherine comes back for the summer Saturday!!! So we will all be able to workout togetherWinning!

This past weekend I also got to be with Kyle, Catherine, Annie and Kenz! Kyle and I celebrated six months together on Thursday. Then we all cheered on Catherine at her Tri on Saturday before a night of festivities. I love these people!

One of the most stressful things right now is I am uncertain of my housing situation after June. Almost a year ago I moved in with my cousinWe decided not to re-sign our leasebut I am not sure what I am going to do. I, of course, have a few ideas in my headBut I stink at making final decisions.

That is all I have friends! I have some posts coming soon about what I do for work, pre/post workout snacks and hopefully a workout Wednesday postHave a fabulous weekend!
