Three words
Non Scale Victory
Seems pretty straightforward, huh? For many people, NSV’s
are easy to find throughout their journey. However, I always have a tricky time
being proud of myself unless it has to do with the number on the scale.
Now I have not weighed myself in over a month, and that is not my priority right now. My priority is
to enjoy life with the people I love while living a BALANCED life. Yeah, I want
to be able to eat out, get drinks, and eat cupcakes when I want and also
workout when I feel like it. If I make this lifestyle miserable how am I ever
going to be able to hold onto it forever?
The truth is I will not.
A true NSV for me is having balance and being happy, but
yesterday I had two NSV, and I had another today. Here is how they went:
I ran into Jcrew because everything was 40% off. I needed a
pair of shorts, and there was a super cute tank; however, the tank came in a
00, 0, 6 or 12. I grabbed the 12 and ran to the dressing room. This sweet
little old lady asked me if I needed anything, and I proceeded to explain that
the tank was only in a 12, and I was bummed. I said I would probably need a 10
because I have should big shoulders, and she looked at me and said, “Honey do a
360”. So I did. She then said, “You are so tiny! You could easily fit into a
6!” She brought a 6 in another color, and it fit. I was so stinking happy.
Needless to say, I bought the tank.
Then I went into Lulu Lemon to spend a gift card I have had
forever. I wanted to get a matching outfit, but they only had the shirt I
wanted in a size 6 again. I told the sales person I like my shirts loose when I
run, and she said a 6 would for sure fit. I said, “eh, I don’t know, this fall
I bought a 10”. She encouraged me to try it on, and it fit. I thanked her for
encouraging me! I felt good, and I got my matching outfit that even has some
camouflage. :)
Finally, today I am wearing SHORTS. Yes, I am wearing shorts
without a worry in the world. I use to hate wearing shorts because my legs were
gross. I know my legs are not 100% perfect, but I am wearing my shorts with
confidence!
These are NSV to me because they reminded me the number on
the scale does not determine how victories should go. If you have an NSV, I
would LOVE to hear it!
