Signing up for races has been a great way to keep myself
motivated. I have done all sorts of races including; 5Ks, 10Ks, a 15K, two mud runs, one marathon, three half marathons, a triathlon and a duathlon. In 2015 I plan to run The Tough Mudder, a few 5Ks, a half marathon and my 2nd full. One thing I love about running races is it is a great thing to do with friends!

I finished 2014 with a 10K on Thanksgiving Day with Catherine. Yikes was in COLD! I had to check to make sure my fingers and toes were still in place during this race. If you look closely you can see the ice on our eye lashes :) This was our 2nd year doing this race, but I am not sure if we can get out in the cold again next year!
DONUTS - I am pretty sure everyone loves donuts. I ran a 10K fun run that served donuts mid race. Say what!? I said no to the donuts, until the end. Read more about that race here.
Catherine and I are always up for cheap fun races that support good causes :) I am up at her school at least once a month and we try to always run together. We recently did a 5K trail run! I never realized how hard trail runs are, especially one week post marathon! OUCH.
I ran my first marathon in October of 2014… It was an amazing experience, with lots of hills and a ton of wind. I always said it would be a one and done deal, but I am already looking at marathons for 2015 :) Read more about my marathon experience here and here.
The week before my first marathon, my running buddy, Catherine and I decided to run one last race… We signed up for a 10K and it was only for the LADIES.
One of my most rewarding races happened this September. Not because it was a long distance that I trained extra hard for. But because it was the race that I actually trained kids to run. It was the best feeling to see their hard work pay off. The many thanks that the parents gave me made me feel so special. To read more about this fun 5K race that the kids finished in around 32 minutes click HERE. {September 2014}
My sister and I took on the Rugged Maniac in September 2014… WOWZA. This was harder than any half marathon I have ever ran. I still think my triathlon was harder than this though:) Anyway, it was at a ski resort so just think HILLS on HILLS on HILLS. I use to love running hills until this race. We came home and had bruises all over our legs! Still really fun. {September 2014}
My best timing for a half marathon took place at the end of August this year. I PR'd by a little over a minute! But what was most exciting was that I shaved over 20 minutes off my half marathon time that I just ran two weeks before this race. If that is not a win, I do not know what it! Running a half marathon in the middle of August is something only a crazy person would do! This half was running from MN to WI! It was very hilly but I was able to run it with Catherine. Read more about it HERE. {August 2014}

My family has made it a tradition to run the Color Run together these past two years. Oh my! SO FUN. It is another race that is very laid back and just fun, no worries about finishing in a certain time, no one is pushing you at the start line, it is a very laid back race. If you want to read more about it click HERE. {July 2014}
I competed in my first mud run in June 2014 with my family. It was a really fun and laid back race for me, which was nice for a change! Read more about it HERE. {June 2014}

Catherine is my partner in crime for races, I have only done a few races without her! We got asked to do a duathlon last minute for free. So we boy obviously said yes. It was the best race I have ever done! Read more about it HERE. {May 2014}
My friends Catherine and Katie talked me into doing a triathlon. My wonderful friend Courtney took me to the YMCA to learn how to swim three times before race day. This was the most difficult race I have ever done. Read more about it HERE. {May 2014}
My college friend Lauren wanted to do a half with me but our schedules were not comprising. So we settled on a 15K (9.3 miles). This was a fun Hot Chocolate race, although very hilly! I look forward to running with Lauren in her first half in August. Read more about our 15K HERE. {April 2014}
My first half marathon is by far the most detailed blog post I have written. I explained every detail I could remember. I was so nervous, I remember hugging Catherine good-bye (as we went to different pace groups) and I started to cry. Sort of like having your parents drop you off at college and say "SEE YA!" A super fun race that was hard and that left me in lots of pain. Read more about my FIRST half marathon HERE and HERE. {March 2014}
On Thanksgiving you eat, therefore Catherine, Katie and I thought we would burn some calories running a 10K the morning of Thanksgiving. It was my first race with these fitness freaks and I loved it! Read more about our Thanksgiving 10K HERE. {November 2013}
Lauren and I found a place in Fargo, ND (where I use to go to college) that had fricken fabulous donuts. Then we found out they were doing a race. Lauren and I had done 5Ks before but we wanted the challenge to sign up for the 10K. We finished and ate a few too many donuts, we will just say I ate too many donuts to admit…. Read more about that race HERE. {November 2013}
My first 'race' ever was the Color Run with my family. A fun 5K, filled with lots of kids, strollers and walkers. I went into this race thinking I was going to run in super fast; however, I quickly learned it was going to be for FUN, which is totally was. I am doing it again this July! Read more about the color run HERE. {July 2013}
As you can see I have done quite a few different races throughout the past few years! I enjoy doing races because I feel proud on the inside when each race is over. Some people have an addiction to drugs and I have an addiction to RACES. My addiction just happens to be a healthy one :)
If you are trying to find motivation I strongly recommend signing up for a race. If you need help deciding what would be best for you please email me and I can try to talk things over with you!
Race On!
