Three Best Friends

I have so, so, so many amazing people in my life. The most supportive family, a sister that is a best friend, I have met lifelong friends at college I no longer go to and then I have friends from HS.

And those two HS riends would be Catherine and Katie. I was always pretty close with Katie and her twin sister, but I was never very close Catherine. But after our first year at college we became really close. I believe what brought us closer was having a common interest - our health!

At the time after my freshman year I never really had other friends that were on the same kick as me. But both Katie and Catherine were, somehow we connect and the rest is history.

These are the girls that understand why I sometimes go to bed at 8:00 PM on a Saturday. They understand why I love going to Trader Joes and they agree that it is acceptable outing with friends. They brainstorm with me how we can make health(ier)y alcohol drinks. They wake up at the crack of dawn to run the Stillwater stairs (BTW- there are 158 steps, we counted). They understand me so well.

Sometimes I think if We are all still unmarried when we are 40 we will just say screw it and live together for life.

I have many, many, many other amazing friends but these two were standing out to me today :)

2015 ~ Goals

The other day I shared my resolution for 2015 – be happy with myself every.single.day.

Yeah, 365 days of no negativity against myself. Because hating on my inner thigh fat or my double chin is going to do NO good for me. It will only make me feel worse. Why put yourself through that?

With that said, I did set some ‘goals’.

In 2015 I hope to….

  • Run another marathon in less than 4:45 minutes (4:30 would be lovely but again, running another marathon is something I would be happy with)
  • Continue to lift weights (branch out. I just became a member at a very nice fitness center. They have every kind of weight possible – I need to pull up my big girl pants and be adventurous).
  • Inspire others to make positive changes (people have told me I inspire them, which is the best feeling. I do not try to inspire someone, but when I do, they inspire me right back. It is funny how this works!)
  • Be kind to all (always, always, always be judge free at the gym. I am pretty good about this but I want to be judge free of the super small people too. Not judging a fit chicks outfit choice of short shorts and a sports bra. No one is better than ANYONE).
  • Continue counting my macros (counting my macros has done amazing things for my body. I know this works for me if I can be consistent – also who does not like to put a food puzzle together everyday? :)).
  • Run a few races with my family (I signed my sister, mom and myself up for a duathlon in May. We have started training and I hope we can follow through with it. This is a race I hope to do really well at so we will be doing it separately – but I can tell you this: standing at the finish line waiting for them will have me so emotional. Shit I am getting tears in my eyes right now just thinking about it!)

Have you set goals for yourself? The best advice I can give for goal setting is do not set goals that are too hard to reach. Instead think of reasonable, achievable goals. When you meet them you will have the ultimate reward of being proud.

{PS write that shiz down! Have an accountability partner. I am always willing to be someone’s buddy!}

2015 ~ Resolution

I cannot wait to see what 2015 has in store for me. I have some exciting trips, life events and maybe even a few races on the calendar ;)

I left 2014 ‘completing’ a New Years Resolution for the first time in my life (run 12 races). It only took me 20 years to figure out how to set a NY resolution and complete it, but I finally followed through. I feel very proud. This year I am not making my resolution anything to do with my weight or pant size. That is what my goals are for.

I want to continue to enjoy life for. I do not want the scale to determine if I am happy. After all she is just one lying sun of a B. Near the end of 2014 I finally got it – it fricken finally clicked that the scale does not mean shit. I want to work my hardest everyday and see where I take myself. Using the scale as measurement to see where I am but not letting it determine ME. I will most likely weigh in once a month.

My resolution for 2015 is to be happy with myself every.single.day. Because you know what? Everyday when I wake up I have the chance to be the happiest and best Bailey McKenzie possible.

I know that if I follow through with a resolution like this it will only affect my life for the positive.

I cannot wait to share some fitness goals I have for 2015! HAPPY NEW YEAR FRIENDS!
