Race Day - 13.1

What a wonderful race today! I got to see some pretty fun people and they all did fabulous crushing their run. It makes my heart happy to see other people happy because of exercising. Surrounding myself with upbeat, positive people who are also a supporter to others has been such a great change to my life.

I was going into the race feeling blah. A little nervous, unmotivated, unsure of my time, etc.  I'll admit I started my summer off with some great runs and then it slowly went downhill. I could sit here and make excuses like I was on vacation, school got busy, etc. but instead I'm owning it and moving forward.

I needed this race today to remind me that I am able to accomplish anything I want. Before today I was debating backing out of the marathon because I just do not enjoy running as much. But after a PR there is no turning back ;) So I planned out some long runs and I'm going to put my big girl pants on and fricken finish the dang marathon!

Today I am proud. A new PR of 2:15 and a pace of 10:16! Woot woot.

26.2 round 2 you better be ready for me!

Goals: Short and Long Term

It is SO important to set goals for yourself throughout your life. Weekly I am brainstorming new goals for all different aspects of my life. After being on vacation I came back with a fire under my butt and I am ready to smash my goals (fitness/health related)!

Short Term:
WATER – dang I have been forgetting to drink my h2o!
Three short runs a week (ranging from 3-6 miles)
One long run a week (8+ miles)
One leg day a week
Blog 2+ Xs/week
Track food – even when I blow my macros (holding yourself accountable is everything!)

Long Term:
Whole30
Squat 220#
Half marathon less than two hours (I’m a LONG way from this)

I also came back from vacation to this lovely package from Gildan Esprit de She– what an awesome organization to be apart of #EveryThreadCounts

Vacation Bliss

I posted something a few hours ago on my Instagram and I wanted to share it here too for people who may not see my Instagram.

The last ten days I have been on vacation in Breckenridge, CO with my moms family. I have been able to try a lot of different activities like white water rafting (bucket list item), alpine sliding, zip lining, mountain biking, hiking different trails, and card tournaments with my family. All of these were truly amazing and I am so lucky to have tried them. What makes it even more special is I got to do it with my grandparents who are getting older. Hours after we got home from zip lining with my grandpa, he had a scary accident on the steps, which resulted in his quad being torn. He had to leave the trip early to go home for surgery. Prayers for a speedy recovery gramps!

I also got to try lots of different foods in Breckenridge. A few donuts shops, an amazing cookie shop, ice cream stores, pizza, burgers (organic & grassfed!!!!), and so much more. I'm feeling sluggish now but I know in a few days I will be back to my routines. This week I also have a half marathon - I'm obviously nervous because my training went downhill while on vacation (elevation was 11,900 feet). It's just a race and I know I can finish!

Like my post said, in five years I won't remember my s'mores cookie, gaining some vacation weight or skipping a workout. But what I will remember are all the memories I made with my family. Some days I was up until midnight so I did not feel like waking up early to workout or didn't want to workout later in the day and miss out on family time. Family is everything and fun times with family is going to be put before my exercise while on vacation :) oh, and always say yes to trying new foods.

Cheers to living a balanced life my friends!!
